CHASE Collaborative Doctoral Awards 2023-24 Call now open

Call for projects

CHASE invites academics at its member institutions to submit Collaborative Doctoral Award (CDA) project proposals in collaboration with an organisation outside of higher education (HEO).

CDAs are intended as a way of facilitating collaboration with a diverse range of non-HEO partners including smaller, regional partners and spreading capacity for non-HEOs to work with HEOs in focused, mutually beneficial ways. CDAs provide important opportunities for doctoral researchers to gain first-hand experience of work outside the university environment and enhance their employment-related skills and training. For more information on CDAs visit our About CDAs page. For specific information on the application process visit our Submitting a CDA Proposal page.

The number of awards given will depend on the number and quality of proposals received, but the CHASE Management Board expects to offer 4-5 Collaborative Doctoral Award studentships to start in October 2024. These studentships will be advertised alongside the main CHASE studentship competition, to a separate timetable.

CHASE would particularly welcome applications which support its strategic objectives in the following areas:

·       Projects likely to attract applicants from BAME or other under-represented backgrounds;

·       Modern languages.
