Adeyemi P. Awomodu
Adeyemi P. Awomodu, an AHRC CHASE-funded Doctoral Researcher in Linguistics at the Department of Language and Linguistics, University of Essex, is a multifaceted individual. His research focuses on language-in-education policy in Africa, particularly the impact (or lack thereof) of the language of instruction (LOI) on the educational experiences and attainments in African schools. His broader interests in African languages, language policy, multilingualism and translanguaging in an educational context, language-in-education policy, sociolinguistics, language and inequalities, and language attitudes further demonstrate his dedication to advancing the field. Born and bred in Lagos, Nigeria, Adeyemi is not only a dedicated researcher but also a self-proclaimed Michelin-star chef of traditional Nigerian cuisine, showcasing his diverse interests and talents. As a CHASE EDI Ambassador, Adeyemi seeks to create opportunities and positive action interventions to support underrepresented groups while celebrating diversity and inclusion through organised events and awareness workshops.
