CHASE Latin for Medievalists and Early Modernists Residential Week 2024

We are delighted to announce the 2024 CHASE Latin for Medievalists and Early Modernists Summer Residential Week. Whether you have attended our online seminars, or this is your first encounter with us, we warmly invite you to join us at the University of East Anglia for this five-day programme.

Over the course of the programme, we will work to improve our essential grammatical and vocabulary knowledge, build the skills necessary to engage with primary sources in research and engage with the Latin language in fresh and creative ways. Morning sessions will consist of separate ability-based classes, catering to students ranging from complete beginners to intermediate Latinists. In the afternoons, the entire cohort will work together to translate more complex texts, develop techniques focused on academic research into Latin documents, produce our own Latin compositions based on pop songs and films, and consult Norwich's outstanding collections of medieval and early modern books.

This residential week offers a valuable opportunity for intensive study and networking with fellow Latinists. It has proven very popular with scholars of medieval and early modern Latin in previous years, so be sure to register quickly if you would like to attend!

You can register for this course until 3rd May 2024.

Clara Chamberlain, Jessica Honey, Pietro Mocchi, Brett Mottram and Sam McCarthy (organisers and tutors)
