Writing research papers as a doctoral student can be daunting. This half-day workshop aims to make the process of identifying what might work as a paper, as well as how to write it, that little bit easier.
Looking closely at examples, we will identify what gives a paper star quality. How does a paper carry the argument and contribution the author is making to the field? How is it structured? Then, equipped with a better understanding of the submission and revision process, you will identify areas of your own research which demonstrate originality and significance before learning how to package your material so that it’s enticing to editors and readers alike.
Learning outcomes:
• Evaluate published papers to identify their strengths and weaknesses.
• Learn how to write a research article or journal paper that is strong on originality, significance and rigour.
• Tailor your article or paper towards the requirements of your target publication.
• Understand the review and revision process.
