CHASE Essentials: Peer Feedback - Giving and Receiving

Peer Feedback Workshops (open to all year groups)

January, 24 & 26th

Zoom sessions 1000-11.30 each day plus a 45-minute session at the end of the day.

We all know the value of having a trusted first reader for our early drafts, or for the draft we’re ready to send off to a supervisor or journal editor, but how can we make the most of the feedback we receive? And, just as importantly, how might your feedback help others to improve their work? What does ‘constructive feedback’ actually mean, and what can we learn from giving it?

In this dynamic and interactive workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of giving and receiving feedback in a kind, constructive and inspiring way. You’ll be asked to share short excerpts of your own writing with two or three of your peers, and there will be time for individual reflection and group discussion.

The workshop runs over two days. On each day there will be a 90-min zoom session in the morning, followed by set exercises in the afternoon, and a half-hour check-in session at 5:00pm.

All students are also invited to book an individual tutorial with the tutor to discuss their writing and writing challenges. This will be held either in-between the teaching days or on the day after.

As well as meeting as a group, all students are encouraged to meet in smaller groups to swap writing and give feedback therefore please make sure you can commit to all sessions.
