Preparing for the Final Year of your PhD

There’s so much to fit into to your final year and careful planning is essential. With clear guidance, individual exercises, and group discussion, this practical workshop helps you prepare for the last stages of your doctorate, including submission, the viva, and what happens next.

  • More confidence in your ability to get through the final year

  • A clear idea of the skills you need to develop

This training is aimed at late-stage PhD students in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

About the Facilitator

Catherine Pope is an academic researcher and experienced workshop facilitator. Since completing her PhD in 2014, Catherine has worked with thousands of researchers and writers to help them achieve their goals. She runs workshops and writing retreats at many universities, including Sussex, Birkbeck, Canterbury Christ Church, Portsmouth, and Surrey. Catherine has also published books in her field of Victorian literature and on technology. She divides her time between the 19th and 21st centuries.

By registering you are requesting a place on this training programme or selected sessions that form part of the programme. A member of the CHASE team or the workshop leader will contact you in due course to confirm that a place has been allocated to you. If you no longer require a place, please email enquiries@chase.ac.uk as soon as possible so your name can be removed from the registration list.  If you are allocated a place but can no longer attend, please email enquiries@chase.ac.uk so that your place can be reallocated. CHASE training is free to attend and events are often oversubscribed with a waiting list. Failure to notify us of non-attendance in good time (ideally 5 days prior to the workshop/programme) means your place cannot be reallocated and may result in your access to future CHASE training being restricted.
