Brief Encounters journal is seeking applications to join its Editorial Board for Issue 9, which is due out in summer 2025.
Brief Encounters is the student led journal for CHASE DTP and features short academic and creative works and reviews. The journal is open access and peer reviewed and features contributions from across the CHASE researcher community. All board roles are open for applications, as follows:
Senior Editor – overall responsibility for the journal; leading the Editorial Board to ensure timely publication of the forthcoming issue; liaising with the journal steering committee.
Web and layout Officer – management of the journal website and submission system; liaising with the external Web Developer; leading on applying layout standards to all submissions to be published.
Comms Officer – managing the journal’s social media channels; maximising the reach of the journal to academic and non-academic audiences.
Submissions Editor – reviewing all submissions to the journal; allocating submissions to the correct Section Editor; sourcing peer reviewers for submissions.
Section Editors (Articles, Reviews, Creative Encounters) - receiving all reviews, creative submissions, and creative encounters submitted to the journal; maintaining communication with authors; ensuring prompt peer review of reviews.
This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities but gives a flavour of what each role entails. Resources are provided to support you in carrying out these roles effectively.
